Qualities of a good data steward
- [Instructor] Serving as a data steward is a challenging role. Data stewards need to have a strong understanding of their organizations, the subject matter domain over which they will have stewardship responsibilities, and the different areas of data stewardship responsibility. Let's take a moment to talk about the qualities that make a good data steward. First, a good data steward is a relationship builder. Data stewards often find themselves in difficult situations where they're being forced to balance competing demands, or even say no to requests from different parts of the organization. These difficult conversations go much better when the data steward has strong working relationships throughout the organization. They have the trust of colleagues from around the organization and a network of preexisting relationships to rely upon when they have to make those tough calls.
