- [Instructor] Interviews provide you with important information about where to start. They identify the business processes that handle PII and the IT systems that support those transactions. But interviews can only help you to the extent that the people you interview are aware of the details of those processes. Once you've completed your interviews, it's time to roll up your sleeves and follow the data. Data flow diagram show all the ways that information enters and leave systems. You should create a data flow diagram for every system that you're aware of that handles PII. The diagram should show the journey of the PII, including every location where it's stored and every process that touches it. For example, your human resources system probably handles employees' Social Security Numbers. As you go through the data flow diagramming process, you might identify that Social Security Numbers are first collected by employees on a paper form that they submit to an HR clerk. The HR clerk…
