- [Mike] Every organization handles an almost overwhelming volume of data on a daily basis. From customer databases to web traffic logs and from credit card records to employee social security numbers, we're responsible for managing massive amounts of data that's crucial to our businesses and sensitive to our stakeholders. Data stewardship program set up formal structures for data governance in an organization. These programs address many different aspects of data management, ranging from the initial collection of data, through its storage, maintenance, security, and proper use. Hi, I'm Mike Chapple. I'm a professor of business analytics, and I've been working in the field of data stewardship for over a decade. It's my pleasure to welcome you to this course on data stewardship. As you progress through this course, you'll learn all of the essential skills required to design, implement, and maintain a data stewardship program for your organization. You'll learn about the role of a data steward, techniques to maintain data quality, controls designed to protect data security, the responsibilities of an organization for protecting personal privacy, and details of the regulatory and compliance environment surrounding data stewardship. We'll wrap up with a discussion of techniques that you can use to get started with a data stewardship program in your organization. All right, let's get rolling.
