- [Instructor] Data governance represents a structured framework for treating data as a strategic asset rather than just some byproduct of business operations. At its core, governance defines clear roles and responsibilities for, one, who makes decisions about data. Two, who implements those decisions, and, three, who's accountable for the outcomes. Now, comprehensive governance establishes measurable standards across multiple dimensions. Typically, these include data quality, security controls, privacy protection, and regulatory compliance. Now, the governance model creates accountability throughout the entire lifecycle. So this starts with the initial data collection process all the way through processing, usage, storing, sharing, archiving, and eventual deletion.
