What is data mesh?
- If you work in data, you've likely worked on projects where clients had no clue which dataset lived where, or it took forever for IT to get you the data you needed. Data mesh solves both problems. It keeps your data in one place so it's easier to find, and it assigns ownership to stewards who are experts on the data in their domains. That's because data mesh promotes a product mindset. It views data not as a service to be shared from the top down, but as a valuable product with an ongoing life cycle. I'm Lauren Maffeo, and we'll walk through this crash course on data mesh together. When you're done, you'll know its four key principles, what a data domain is, how to assign ownership of data, and most of all, how to get it set up for yourself. Let's get started.
