- [Instructor] All right, folks, we've covered off the basics of what data management is and introduced the concept of the data management lifecycle. The next few chapters of this course, we'll dive into each of these lifecycle stages and start to build out the full picture. The first stage, and the one we'll be discussing now, is data collection. Data collection is exactly what it sounds like, collecting data to use in the rest of our data management lifecycle. In today's world, data can come from many different sources and in many different formats. And for us to be successful in our aim of providing business leaders with the ability to make solid, data-based decisions, we need to ensure we collect all the data we need at this stage.
