- [Instructor] While it is possible to write LabVIEW programs to communicate with a device using the low level VISA API trying to write a program that way can be tedious and error prone. Especially if it involves sending and receiving more than just a few simple commands. Before you try tacking that challenge yourself, you should check to see if somebody else has already done the work for you. By searching the Instrument Driver Network. Which has thousands of drivers for communicating with third party instruments using LabVIEW. You can search drivers for your device on NI.com or you can search for drivers from within LabVIEW by going to Help, Find Instrument Drivers. If the device is connected to your computer you can click Scan for Instruments and it should appear up under the connected instruments section.
