Connect a benchtop oscilloscope

- [Instructor] If you installed LabVIEW using the default options, it should have included the NI-VISA driver as part of the installation. You can verify that it's installed in Measurement & Automation Explorer by going to the software tab and looking for NI-VISA. To demonstrate how to communicate with a non-national instruments device, I'll be using my Rigol DS1054Z oscilloscope. It has a USB port on the back, which I'll connect to my laptop. When I connect it, Max will recognize my device as a VISA resource and create an entry under the Devices and Interfaces section. If I right-click on the device, I can choose to open a VISA test panel. This first configuration window gives you some basic information about the device, including its manufacturer, model, and serial number. The next tab lets you configure VISA I/O settings, and then the last tab shows you a table full of attributes that have been queried from this…
