- Let's look at how organized crime is targeting everyone on the internet. Colorado Timberline was a $100 million American manufacturing company based in Denver, founded in 2013. They made branded and logoed items typically given away at trade shows and other marketing events. They were doing so well that in the summer of 2017, they were acquired by a private equity firm that resulted in a large headcount increase and healthy growing revenue too. But just one year later, Colorado Timberline went out of business in less than a month following a ransomware attack. They abruptly announced closure on Facebook without fulfilling hundreds of orders they had taken. Then in early 2019, all their hard assets including new industrial sized, sophisticated printers, $3.5 million in raw materials and a lot of warehouse equipment appeared on the auction circuit.
