- Cloud marketing materials make it sound like being in the cloud will solve all your cyber security problems. While you can get a lot of cyber security benefits from using a cloud service, there's more to the story. Let's strip away all the jargon, and get right down to the basics. Putting your data into the cloud really means just putting your data on someone else's computer, but how does cyber security really work in the cloud? Here's how Amazon Web Services describes it. While AWS manages security of the cloud, security in the cloud is the responsibility of the customer. So cloud works on a shared responsibility model.
