- [Narrator] Most applications and accounts, including social media, have privacy settings that govern how your data is used and shared, many with default settings that are not favorable to your privacy. In this way, we often inadvertently leak information about ourselves through the services that we use. In this video, you'll learn what privacy settings to check and look out for. The principle I follow is as soon as I sign up for an account, I check the privacy settings, and I make sure that I'm comfortable with them before I continue on with the service. You should check the privacy settings for all of the applications and all of the accounts that you are signed up for. I will walk you through some of the most common apps so you can get a sense of what to look for when you're going into these applications and accounts and trying to change the privacy settings.
