The future of phishing

- From AOL messages to AI chatbots, phishing has made great strides, and it's obviously not going to stop there. Currently, we're experiencing phishing attacks where deepfake technology is used to sound like a loved one is in a dire situation. Phishing as a service, or PhaaS, is enabling inexperienced hackers to run massive phishing campaigns with little knowhow. As we create more methods to stay connected and communicate, we inadvertently create more possible ways to be exploited, and attackers will be right there to take advantage. Virtual and augmented reality will probably become more widely used as costs decrease and these tools become more integrated into our daily lives. The University of Chicago even released research detailing a new type of attack for VR headsets called an inception attack. This is when a VR headset is hijacked and a malicious interface takes over the original one. The attacker could use this fake interface to record and modify a person's experience. Talk…
