- Creating is hard work. If it was easy, then everyone would do it. But sometimes the hardest thing to do is get started on a creative project. Our brains will come up with all sorts of excuses to do something else. Writers call it the blank page syndrome. You sit down to create and suddenly your desk needs to be cleaned or you need to send those emails or binge a TV show or check social media again. All of these are tricks your brain uses to distract you from creating. People use all sorts of excuses when these types of delays and procrastinations appear. This is more important. I'm not in the mood. It's late in the day. But the real reason behind them is fear. Fear of hard work. Fear of failure. Fear of looking like an idiot. Fear that the work itself will be awful.
