- [Instructor] Artists and designers throughout time have used reference material to assist and improve their creative results. The only difference between DaVinci and now, is we have access to a far greater range of visual resources, since we work digitally, that creatives of the past could only dream of. Reference is vital to the creative process. So let's dive into it. So I showed you this mark previously, this was featured in my learning logo design course. And when I created this mark of the panther's head, I used reference, I looked at a photo reference. This is one of them showing here on the left. And for example, I studied it's nose and I noticed on a panther's nose, it kind of goes up the side, comes to a point, swoops down, curves, goes to the center and bends down and you can see how I reflected that and how I handled the design.
