- [Narrator] If you've ever read a detective novel or watched a Sherlock Holmes movie, you've probably seen the character deduce their way through a case to solve it. Deductive drawing works in much the same way. So let me show you how to approach this and create using this mindset. Now, even though we're going to jump into some of the aspects of drawing out an illustrative design, this principle applies to building too, 'cause sometimes something is so iconic and so simple, you don't really have to dry it beforehand and then build it in Illustrator, because Illustrator makes basic shapes very easy. And if you go here, you can go to the rectangle tool, elliptical tool, and those things will allow you to create shapes very quickly. So if we take a look at this photo reference of a bird and we want to deduce it down into simple, geometric shapes, we could create this fairly simple, we have two elliptical shapes here.…
