Adding movement when using jibs
(upbeat music) - [Male] So jibs or cranes make it possible to move the camera vertically, just like the slider lets us move horizontally. This lets us move the camera up and down. - [Female] You know, they work a lot like a seesaw. Just like a gimbal, you want to make sure the weight on both sides is even. - [Male] The amount of weight that you need on one side is dependent on the amount of weight you have on the other side. So the camera and lens and all the accessories that you're using need to be counterbalanced by the weight that you add to the short side. - Right, so, you know, it's not going to be the same if you're going to use different cameras at different times. So how you make sure it's balanced is you add one weight at a time and you kind of judge until it feels balanced. - [Male] Yeah, and that's definitely a two-person job, one person holding the camera side while one person adds weight to the other side. -…
