- How democratic should you be in the writing of your agenda? After all, if you're the leader of the meeting, you could claim that it's your meeting and you can run it however you like. But still, it's probably a good idea to have the participants on side. And remember that if they disagree with you about how the meeting should be run, they might actually be right. So, I think there are three ways you can consult people on the contents of the agenda. The first, the most democratic way, is to start by asking for suggestions on what people want covered, then write the agenda to cover that, and then issue the finished agenda which cannot then be changed. Know any other business can be added on the day, because they've had their chance to suggest subjects. If you consult, then write it, and then put it out again as a draft for further changes, you run the risk of wasting everybody's time, as well as looking ridiculously weak.
