- Media outlets operate from the legal and social responsibility to vet their guests, and as a result, they're seen as highly credible. So when a person appears in the media, the outlet is in essence transferring their credibility to the individual. As part of the vetting process, the booking agent will research you online, starting with your social footprint. Your social media activity and content gives the booker a sneak peek into your expertise, your personality, and your audience engagement. Of all the content format, video carries the most weight. They help the agent to determine how you'll look and sound to their audience. Now, can you guess who media outlets trust the most? I'm going to help you out with this one. Other media outlets, that's who they trust, other media outlets. Now, what that means is that the more you appear in the media, the more you'll get asked to appear in the media. The key is to always be ready. Now, take a couple of minutes to write down any media appearances you've had in the past. Doesn't matter how long ago it was, or how small the appearance, write 'em all down. I'm not talking about just the major media appearances, either. Those podcasts and blog interviews count as well.
