Cultivating differentiation in your team

- If you're a leader, it is imperative that you cultivate competitive differentiation with your team because as a leader, how you speak and behave sets the narrative for your team. Your objective should be to inspire and expect differentiation. To inspire your team to be differentiated, there are a couple things you can do. First off, use phrases people can repeat. Don't dilute your language with complicated jargon. Pick a few key messages, stick to them and repeat them often. Pick your differentiation and make it clear and easy to understand. Another thing you can do as a leader is use microtraining. Competitive differentiation doesn't have to be a long slog through marketing. Instead, just leverage your daily opportunities.
