Overcoming fear and anxiety
Throughout my life, I have had a fear of heights. I don't mean mere discomfort, I mean where there are heights, I am not there. However, several years, ago I went on a family trip to Ghana. While we were there, we went on various sightseeing excursions, including the famous Kakum Canopy Walk, which is a series of rope bridges located in a beautiful national park. Add a staggering 130 feet above the ground. This bridge is one of the seven tallest rope bridges in the world. When we got to the entranceway to this series of bridges, I stood last in line to step on. At that moment, I was flooded with fear. I was sweating, my heart was pounding. I felt lightheaded and every danger imaginable, rushed through my mind. These are feelings which we can all relate to, right? We face these sorts of feelings of fear when we need to deliver bad news to our team, when we have to challenge a colleague about poor behavior, or when we have to admit to a mistake we've made.
