Safety is everyone's job
- Construction has one of the highest rates of occupational injuries and fatalities of any industry, yet it doesn't have to be this way. I know that we have safety managers that take many safety courses to become subject matter experts, but the only way to really make this industry safer is to ensure that all construction professionals understand not only how to recognize hazards, but how to manage safety and health like you manage quality and productivity. We can't leave safety entirely in the hands of the safety managers. We need to take control. We need to incorporate safety into our planning processes, instead of just sending it to the safety department for evaluation after the work's already planned. The management of safety in health and construction is everyone's responsibility, and it's a skill that every construction professional needs to have. That's what this course is about: safety and health management for everyone involved in all phases of the construction process so that we can begin to shed that designation as the most dangerous industry.
