- So far in this course, I've talked about identifying and working towards specific goals to improve your construction projects. Those goals, again, are eliminating rework and improving throughput. We talked about pull planning, identifying constraints, building reliability among the trades, and how to combine the best features of CPM scheduling with lean scheduling concepts. In this chapter, I'll cover a few more tools that we can use to stay on track and help us reach our goals. When I talk to groups of developers or planners or even architects, people that are construction adjacent but haven't really experienced it down in the trenches, I always start by saying construction is really hard, and I say this because I think it's really important to acknowledge this.
