- It's difficult to set up and follow a construction schedule, because we're always pushing, or being pushed. We tend to follow this process where we take an educated guess on how long a task will take, we apply that to the construction schedule, and use those durations to schedule activities and trade contractors. When it appears that one trade isn't going to finish on time, they get pushed to go faster and finish, and when another trade finishes before the date shown on the schedule, the general contractor calls and starts pushing the next trade contractor to get out to the job early to reduce the downtime. It's really an inefficient process, and it inevitably results in gaps in the schedule, and, or stacking of the trades.
