- Technology is always changing. Display connections have changed to allow for higher resolutions, better colors, and faster image processing for smoother video graphics. VGA, DVI, HDMI, display port, USBC and even Thunderbolt are common display plugins. In this graphic we can see different cables for the different display ports. We've talked a little bit about these, but we're going to dive in a little bit more. Display Port 2.0 has 4K capabilities and is used a lot on MAC machines. USBC is very fast for data transfers to the video output and it's becoming more commonplace. HDMI is probably the most widely used and provides high resolution with 1080P and 4K, and that also comes with very high data transfer rates as well. The VGA port, which is the first video connector I can even remember when I got into computers many years ago.
