- Okay, in this lesson, we're going to look at challenges that we may face when we deploy IPS, or we might want to just call it IDPS solutions. So let's look at traffic going outbound here, because the IPS sensor is going to be in line, but it's going to be behind the firewall. So if the traffic's coming inbound from the cloud provider or the internet, or a SaaS provider, or the public, then the IPS sensor will be deployed either as an engine or a process behind the firewall for the ingress traffic. For the egress traffic, the IPS sensor is going to be behind the firewall for that outbound traffic. So the IPS sensor really should only be acting on packets and datagrams that have been permitted through the firewall. That's the first thing. It's kind of like the overall deployment and placement of that IDPS solution.
