Watermarking

Watermarking is a powerful technique that embeds a hidden signature or pattern into data or AI generated content. It helps verify ownership, detect tampering, and prove authenticity long after the content has left its original source. In AI security, watermarking serves three main purposes. First, it supports provenance. When an image, text, or video is generated by an AI model, the watermark can later confirm which model produced it. This is especially important as AI-generated content becomes harder to distinguish from human-created material. Second, watermarking supports intellectual property protection. Organizations can embed unique identifiers into their proprietary data sets or model outputs. If that data later appears in another system, the watermark can confirm unauthorized reuse or data theft.
