Human oversight

Human oversight takes a slightly more hands-off approach from human in the loop. Instead of reviewing every single AI decision, human oversight means keeping people in a supervisory role, ready to intervene when necessary. Think of it as keeping a close eye on the system, rather than approving each move it makes. A good example is an aircraft autopilot system. The system handles most of the flying, but the pilot always monitors its performance and can take over immediately if something goes wrong. In AI, human oversight works the same way. It includes dashboards, alert systems, and controls that allow people to track and correct AI behavior in real time. Human oversight is critical for safety and security. If an AI model begins producing harmful, biased, or unpredictable results, someone with oversight authority must be able to pause or shut down the system.
