- Networks can run into all sorts of issues often because something important was overlooked when setting things up or maybe due to something totally unexpected. In this video, we'll check out some of the problems that can mess with network performance and how to spot them. Network congestion is like a traffic jam with too many messages trying to squeeze through limited bandwidth. It's usually a short-term thing caused by unplanned spike in network traffic, but if you notice slowdowns or interruptions happening often, then there's definitely a problem that needs fixing. The main signs of network congestion are latency, throughput, packet loss, and jitter. Latency means delays on the network, and it's usually the first clue that there's congestion. Throughput, which we'll dive into more later, is the actual data transfer rate compared to the bandwidth. If you see more packets being lost, it might be due to congestion or other network problems.
