- One of the most important and often most overlooked skills and data analysis is the ability to communicate effectively. You can conduct the most sophisticated analysis in the world, but if you can't explain it clearly to the people who need to make decisions based on that analysis, your work loses much of its value. Communicating to your audience isn't about just presenting data. It's about delivering insights in a way that your audience can understand and act upon. Every communication effort starts with understanding your audience. Whether you're creating a report, a dashboard, or a presentation, you need to have a clear picture of who will be consuming your work.
