- When it comes to troubleshooting cloud network services, I've got great news for you if you come from the general networking world. It's really the same as troubleshooting on a local network. It's just that you have different interfaces because you're now in the cloud. So let's talk first of all about DHCP, the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, which manages and assigns IP addresses and configuration sets. So where can things go wrong? Well, lease acquisition, you can't get a lease when you need one. That usually comes down to not being able to locate the DHCP server or the DHCP scope has been exhausted. There are no IP addresses left. We have lease duration. So one of the things that often causes scope exhaustion is that you have durations set too long.
