Networking to the cloud
- What we want to talk about next is networking to the cloud, not networking in the cloud, but networking to the cloud. How do we get our connection to the cloud? And the first thing is the use of public connections. In other words, you're going to use the internet as your backbone into the cloud. Now, to do this, we probably want to implement something like a virtual private network, or a VPN. VPN technologies vary. There are many different VPN solutions, but one of the most common is L2TP with IPSec. Your VPN options may be controlled by your cloud service provider, and they may dictate to you exactly what you can or cannot use. That's something that you're going to have to look at in your cloud documentation, but this is a common VPN solution. We'll look a little bit more into the details of how VPNs work in a moment.
