Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)

- The absolute Phillips screwdriver of fixing any Windows system is the Windows Recovery Environment. Now, I want you to think about this for a minute. If I've got a brand new system, there's no Windows, there's no operating system, there's nothing on it, and I want to install something, well, I kind of need like a mini operating system just so I can start the installation process. In the Windows world, we call that the Windows Pre-installation Environment or WinPE. Now, if I can do a little bit with this WinPE, at least I can get Windows installed on your hard drive, I can take WinPE, add a little bit more to it in terms of utilities to work on my system, and create my ultimate Phillips screwdriver, WinRE. Now, the trick is, how do you fire up WinRE? Well, if you've been watching other episodes, you've probably already made a boot drive, boot thumb drive.
