- Well you can't have an episode covering advanced windows commands without doing the same thing for my friends over at Linux. And by the way, pretty much all these commands work just fine on a Mac as well. So in this episode, I want to cover a few various sorted advanced commands that you'll not only see on the exam, but you'll use time and time again within the Linux environment. Let's start off with a big one, shutdown. The shutdown command does it implies, it shuts down your computer. Now, if you type shutdown by itself, I get one minute, and if I type shutdown minus C, that will cancel the shutdown. If you want to shutdown and reboot, I'm using the up arrow key, I can just type it like this, shutdown space minus R, and that'll shut it down in one minute and it'll actually reboot the computer.
