- Smartphones and mobile PCs seem to be more powerful and useful every day as they add more computing power, more apps, and more accessories. However, many of the capabilities are not of any value without the capability to connect and communicate over a network. Connectivity and communication technologies, meaning their connectivity ports are vital to much of the function of mobile devices. The connectivity ports that are most common on mobile devices are, in no particular order, Universal Serial Bus, USB, USB-C, micro USB, mini USB. USB ports are used for recharging audio connections, network connections, and a variety of peripheral devices that extend the function of a mobile device.
