- The motherboard is the backbone of a PC. The type and model you choose will have a big impact on your system. It will also decide which components you can use. What should you look for when picking a motherboard and where can you find that information? Let's explore that together in this episode as we learn how to choose the right motherboard. First, we need to think about how we're going to use the motherboard. Are we doing something simple like building a desktop or a laptop build, or are we doing a server build which would take a multi-socket motherboard?
