How to create pie charts

How to create pie charts

- [Instructor] Although much belied pie charts are a very simple visualization, they're understood by pretty much everybody. They're also very simple to create. A pie chart works in two ways. It has a number of segments and each segment is sized by an angle that's dependent on the percentage of the data that's being shown in the view. To create a pie chart, there's a couple of simple steps. First, we need to tell Tableau we want to create a pie. To do that, we go to the marks card, click on the dropdown, and select pie. Notice we have a new field appear in our marks card, angle. This is going to be used to put a measure to say that, calculate the measure into the angle. So the next step is decide how we're going to segment our data, so for example, maybe I want to know what the regional breakdown is for all of our data. I'm going to put region onto color, and now I have my segments. There are four regions, I have four segments. They're all equally sized because we not have any measure…
