- [Instructor] Next, let's build out our administration skills in Oracle. Understanding how CDBs and PDBs interact and how to start and stop them is going to be part of your job. What I'm going to do here is show you how to log into that database. Of course, you've already been doing this a little bit, but I want you to feel really comfortable when you have to check databases. Always check yourself before you run any command, especially one that's going to bring a database down. So in here we are going to come in and log into our database again. And we need to check and find out what database are we in. Now, there's a couple ways we can do this. (typing) Here's a lovely v$database and it tells us we are at the free level, which the free one is our CDB, our container database. We're talking about multi tenant now. It's in read write mode and it's con idea zero. We can also look at this using that sys context. If you want to do that, you're absolutely able to. (typing) And you'll see…
