Data integrity

Data integrity

- [Instructor] Now that we know all about ACID, data concurrency and consistency, it's time to step into one of the most important topics, data integrity. Data integrity is a set of business rules specified by conditions and relationships on and between objects inside a database. These rules must always be true or false, and ensure the integrity of the data. Oracle enforces data integrity through various methods, including data types, triggered stored procedures, and constraints. Integrity constraints define and restrict values that can be stored in a given object when assigned to it. Integrity constraints are schema-level objects, which mean they are owned by the schema user, and the preferred method for enforcing data integrity. All integrity constraints are easily queried from Oracle's data dictionary views, and require anyone making data changes to an object with an integrity constraint to adhere to the rules set. Anyone violating these rules are informed with an appropriate error…
