- [Instructor] Where authentication is how the database confirms an identity of a user or service, authorization is the next process after the authentication which determines the user or service has the correct access and/or privileges to be authenticated. Although this seems like it's one and the same, authorization should be understood as a separate step in security. Let's discuss the authorization class which deems if a user's login should proceed with limited access, has the privileges granted to read files, if the user can then switch to an administration level or should be locked to the current limited level. For an admin user, such as when a user logs in with the sysdba option, the authorization level of the login will provide read/write access to all files and configurations for the database. It will log the user in with administration mode, but at that point, there is no way for it to reverse it to the user mode. The user must exit and log back in normally. Console secure…
