- In the last section, we discussed the different type of users. Once users have accounts and application access, it's time to grant them additional permissions in individual Jira projects. Here's how to do it using project roles. Project roles grant specific abilities in individual Jira projects. There's one list of roles for the entire application, but how they're used in Jira projects may differ. The default roles in Jira are administrators and Atlassian add-ons project access. The administrators group exists to grant project level admin access. The Atlassian add-ons project access group is specifically to grant third party apps abilities. Jira Service Management adds two additional default groups called Service Desk Customers and Service Desk Team. As I'm sure you've guessed, these roles are used to differentiate the abilities for users that request support and users that provide it.
