- [Instructor] Now I want to shift our focus and talk about some specific terminology that will be important going forward. The first thing I want to talk about is the difference between quantitative data and qualitative data. Quantitative data is data that is represented using numeric measurements, and typically we analyze quantitative data using statistical methods. Now, some examples of quantitative data are sales volumes and profit margins that we might find in business, network traffic volumes, which is something we see when we're working, say, with IT infrastructure. If you're in the education environment, you might work with test scores. These are all examples of quantitative data, as is other data like weather data, such as temperature and humidity. Now, qualitative data is different. It's descriptive, it's not numerical. And typically when we work with qualitative data, we're analyzing or looking for patterns within, say, a particular text or an image. And some examples of…
