- [Instructor] One of the most interesting parts in the data analysis and data science process is analyzing data. Now, this phase typically begins with data exploration, and there are many ways to explore data. A common way to start is by deriving descriptive statistics, such as looking at the mean, and median, and mode of numeric variables. We sometimes also create visualizations, including plots, and charts, and graphs. So both sort of the summary numeric descriptive statistics and visualizations are good ways to kind of get a sense of the overall characteristics or properties of a dataset. And what we're trying to do is identify patterns, and trends, and outliers. We're trying to get a sense of what kind of information is this dataset trying to tell us? And we're also oftentimes looking to check for correlations and relationships because we may have some sense, like we think there might be, for example, a correlation between a certain set of demographic characteristics and a…
