- [Narrator] Now that we know what Systems Manager is, let's get into the console and see how easy it is to get started. From the main web console, I navigate to the Systems Manager homepage. To get started, I'm going to click the quick setup link in the left-hand nav. This brings me to a screen where I can configure a number of options. Let's start by configuring Host Management. In the Host Management box, I click the Create button. Looking at the configuration options section, I certainly want to keep the Systems Manager agent up to date. I also want to maintain a current inventory and scan for missing patches. To allow me to collect host-based metrics, I want to install and Configure the CloudWatch agent, as well as keep that agent up to date. Scrolling down to the Targets section, I have the option to specify regions in which I would like this configuration to be projected. In this case, I just want the current region.
