We're going to first build your foundational knowledge of analytics engineering, so our base will be set for when we start coding in later chapters. In this first chapter, we'll discuss a brief history of data analytics. We'll compare and contrast data engineering and data analytics. We'll discover the niche role that analytics engineers hold, and lastly, we'll discuss how analytics engineering will set you up for the future of data. This will serve as the foundation upon which we'll build in subsequent chapters. The knowledge you'll gain will paint a clear picture as to why we code and how it's possible that we can do such cool work with data. We'll also have some fun quizzes set up at the end of this chapter that will test what you've learned about analytics engineering. Without further ado, let's jump in.
