- Everything we say or don't say has an impact on those around us. As managers, we need to recognize the kind of impact we're making. Are we opening up the dialogue for healthy communication or are we unconsciously shutting it down? As we converse in person remotely on a daily basis, there are three types of communication to recognize. As I step through the characteristics of each type, look to see which ones you have experienced yourself or noticed in others. Write it down in the notebook below the video. The first type reckless communication is gossiping or talking negatively about someone or something. It's using blanket words like always or never. For example, this will never work, or we're always the last to know. It's also labeling or judging others like it's the truth, for example, that's how he is.
