- So I do want to take a moment to underscore something that's a bit of a watch out, something that can go wrong in these conversations. 'Cause one of the things that you want the executive to perceive about you is that you understand the material and that you have good judgment. So it goes back to this framework, this mindset of your goal in an initiative update is to provide as accurate and precise a view of what's going on as opposed to trying to make it look good. Now that can happen in a couple directions. It can first happen in terms of the value of the initiative. I've had people use the word massive impact, monumental upside, phenomenal growth. And then when I ask for a number, when I hear it, it feels very small. And what that reinforces to me is that this person doesn't understand what massive or monumental or transformative means. And so it's really useful to not use descriptive words but to use precise language…
