- [Instructor] What is cloud file storage? It's a method of storing data in the cloud that provides users and applications access to data or files through shared file systems. This is much like the file system that you have on your laptop or mobile phone. This should be familiar in terms of the fact that file systems exist on most computer and device platforms, makes cloud file storage a good idea for workloads that rely on shared file systems. Most have used them and understand them. Often, this is the easiest way to store and retrieve information. The larger cloud providers offer file storage as a service, such as Amazon Web Services or AWS, Microsoft, and Google. However, you can use cloud providers such as Dropbox and Box.net that just offer file storage services. These are typically used for file sharing, as well as backup and recovery.
