Capacity management
From the course: Cloud Security Operations by Pearson
Capacity management
The goal of the Capacity and Performance Management practice is to assure that services are meeting their expected performance levels. Capacity must satisfy current and future demand in a cost-effective way. For example, service capacity is the maximum throughput that a configuration item or service can deliver. For example, Azure ExpressRoute that offers 1, 10, 50, or even 100 gigabit per second throughput with 802.1ae MACSEC in certain areas. Service performance is associated with the number of service actions performed in a time frame and the time required to fulfill a service action at a given level of demand. Some of the activities of Capacity and Performance Management include researching and monitoring the current service performance, capacity and performance modeling with modeling tools, capacity requirements analysis, for example using AWS CloudWatch, demand forecasting and resource planning, and performance improvement planning.
