Get up and running with cloud data

Hello and welcome to Cloud Data Platform and Application Security. My name is Michael J. Shannon, and I'm excited to guide you through this foundational course on cloud technology. Before we dive in, let me share a bit about my background in the IT industry. I began my career in the mid-1990s, transitioning from a studio recording engineer, performer and producer to a network technician for a major telecom company. Over nearly three decades, I've worked as both an employee and contractor for organizations such as Platinum Technologies, Fujitsu, IBM, State Farm, Thomson, Pearson, and Skillsoft. I hold several industry-recognized certifications, including ISC² CISSP and CCSP, the Cloud Cloud Security Alliance, CCSK, and AWS Security Specialty, along with ITIL 4, Managing Professional. This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of security in cloud environments, covering essential concepts related to cloud data, platform, and application security. As organizations continue to move workloads to the cloud, security remains a top priority. This course will equip you with the knowledge needed to protect cloud-based data, infrastructure, and applications. Key topics include cloud data lifecycle and security measures, data classification, policy enforcement and encryption techniques, cloud infrastructure and platform security components, risk analysis, mitigation strategies, and disaster recovery planning, secure application development and software assurance, and identity and access management solutions in cloud environments. Now that you have a better understanding of what this course entails, let's jump right in and get started.
