This will be a short video. I've already alluded to CASBs, or Cloud Access Security Brokers, several times in this training, but let's just officially define what a CASB is. Now one of the first companies to introduce a product labeled as a Cloud Access Security broker was Sky High Networks, and they were acquired by McAfee in January of 2018. So these have been around four or five years now, and we're in 2023. The Cloud Access Security Broker is also referred to as a Cloud Access Gateway. And generally speaking, they're in two categories. They can be proxy-based, like a Palo Alto Networks Aperture solution, or they can be be API-based. CASBs are often utilized in multi-cloud environments or when you have two or more SAS provider solutions for security compliance to assist you with single sign-on, data loss prevention.
